Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and development of new features and critical enhancements for products and services, ensuring security, performance, and test coverage.

• Make architectural decisions and propose technical improvements at the system level.

• Design and implement high-performance components in Rails when efficiency, concurrency, or memory security is required.

• Write and review detailed technical documentation, RFCs, and design proposals.

• Solve complex technical problems, including debugging distributed systems in production.

• Define and uphold code quality standards, maintainability, and best practices at the team level.

• Provide mentorship to Junior and Mid-level Engineers.

• Lead rigorous and constructive code reviews.

• Independently launch extensive features and improvements, coordinating with other teams when necessary.

• Participate in technical planning and the definition of the engineering roadmap.

• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, product teams, and AI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• English B2 or higher.

• Over 6 years of experience in software design and application development using Ruby on Rails.

• Strong experience with JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystems.

• Experience in designing and building microservices and APIs.

• Deep understanding of software engineering and best practices throughout the complete development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, testing, and operations.

• Experience in designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems and high-availability client-server architectures.

• Ability to technically lead, mentor other engineers, and communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure is considered a plus.

• Experience with Kafka or similar technologies in event-driven systems is considered a plus.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is considered a plus.

• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis is considered a plus.

• Contributions to open source projects, especially within the Ruby ecosystem, are considered a plus.

• Experience with observability, including tracing, metrics, and structured logging is considered a plus.
