Senior Software Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Make informed decisions based on data and experience regarding the current and future production platforms, and implement the outcomes.

• Take ownership and develop code testing, building, and deployment processes within a high-scale PaaS environment.

• Collaborate with various teams across the organization on the design of production systems, establishing standards, selecting technologies, and integrating products.

• Implement changes to production infrastructure in a reliable, safe, and predictable manner.

• Contribute to the evolution of collaborative practices as a member of the Platform Engineering team.

• Enhance the company’s Platform/Reliability practices.

• Engage directly in decisions regarding work priorities and execution strategies.

• Take part in incident management and establish practical platform practices.

• Develop and maintain thorough internal documentation for systems and processes.

• Offer periodic on-call support for the services you manage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in the design and implementation of Non-Abstract Systems.

• Advanced proficiency in Python and Golang programming languages.

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes (CKA or an equivalent certification or higher).

• Familiarity with observability principles and technologies, including the definition and tracking of SLI/SLO.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.

• Experience collaborating with a globally distributed team for project delivery.

• A strong commitment to reliability and operational excellence.

• Capability to accurately estimate project scope and coordinate with stakeholders to manage risks and ensure successful delivery.

• Knowledge of software development best practices, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging.

• A proactive mindset for identifying and resolving issues, with an emphasis on ownership and accountability.

• Bonus: Experience with SaaS/PaaS products across various cloud providers.

• Bonus: Familiarity with tools such as CircleCI, Chronosphere (Prometheus), Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, and GitHub Actions.

• Bonus: Knowledge of AWS, GCP, and Azure internal mechanisms and nuances.

• Bonus: Experience in participating in an on-call rotation.
