Senior Software Engineer, Pentest Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and deploy product functionalities that encompass backend services, APIs, and contemporary web application stacks.

• Take ownership of moderate-to-large projects from start to finish, which includes scoping, technical design, implementation, rollout, and iteration.

• Create clear, maintainable, and high-performance user-facing experiences that are in line with product specifications and design guidelines.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams on cross-functional projects.

• Detect and address technical risks, obstacles, and mis-scoped tasks.

• Articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, delivery risks, and implementation choices to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Contribute to discussions regarding architecture and design, emphasizing maintainability, operability, and long-term productivity.

• Produce high-quality code, tests, and technical documentation.

• Conduct code reviews that enhance team productivity.

• Mentor and support less experienced engineers through feedback, onboarding, and collaborative efforts.

• Enhance engineering quality, team performance, and product experience through ownership and ongoing improvement.

• Assist in the development of Horizon3.ai’s NodeZero platform for autonomous cybersecurity penetration testing and risk assessment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong experience in building and maintaining production software across the entire stack.

• Capability to independently manage significant projects from requirements gathering to delivery.

• Experience in developing distributed backend services using Python, Go, Rust, Java, TypeScript, or similar languages.

• Background in building backend services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications.

• Experience in designing and managing APIs, services, and asynchronous or event-driven systems.

• Proficiency in working with SQL-based relational databases in a production setting.

• Knowledge of data modeling and persistence layers for product-grade backend systems.

• Experience with observability, reliability, and operational best practices for production services.

• Frontend development skills using modern JavaScript/TypeScript with frameworks like React, Angular, or similar.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Preferred: Experience with PostgreSQL and performance tuning for large datasets.

• Preferred: Familiarity with graph databases such as Neo4j.

• Preferred: Experience with GraphQL backends.

• Preferred: Knowledge of ETL pipelines and data processing tools.

• Preferred: Experience in vulnerability management, exposure management, security telemetry, or related cybersecurity domains.

• Preferred: Understanding of scoring or recommendation algorithms and data-intensive products.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with product managers to define and sequence an MVP.

• Preferred: Ability to influence technical direction across an organization.
