Senior Software Engineer, Optimizer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop, construct, and sustain core optimization technologies, full-stack systems, and data-heavy systems that facilitate school scheduling.

• Lead complex technical projects that span optimization, full-stack, and data domains.

• Operationalize the optimizer product for scalability and user engagement.

• Participate in on-call support as required.

• Establish testing protocols and observability measures.

• Conduct data-driven experiments to guide fundamental technology decisions.

• Collaborate with product teams to enhance the optimizer's core algorithm, model-builders, and full-stack job orchestration framework.

• Investigate, recommend, and implement enhancements utilizing generative AI and machine learning.

• Spearhead significant projects and initiatives while aiding the product squad in achieving objectives.

• Identify and clarify new opportunities.

• Offer technical leadership in crucial areas of the optimizer stack and the broader engineering team.

• Troubleshoot customer issues and deliver prompt resolutions.

• Mentor and assist junior engineers.

• Encourage continuous improvement and teamwork.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of development experience.

• Proven history of delivering value to customers while contributing across the technology stack.

• Previous success in driving software delivery on intricate and demanding technology projects.

• Extensive knowledge in linear optimization modeling and solvers, application stacks primarily based on machine learning, product and infrastructure stacks utilizing generative AI, or backend API and asynchronous task development.

• Capability to learn and contribute to frontend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering as necessary.

• Demonstrated ability to thoroughly explore complex product requirements and challenging technical fields.

• Expertise in developing and maintaining scalable web applications.

• Experience with implementing unit and integration tests.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities in cross-functional settings.

• Dedication to continuous improvement through code reviews, pairing, and collaborative problem-solving.

• Experience and comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Previous experience in EdTech is a plus, but not mandatory.

• Preference for candidates located in New York or Boston.

• Ability to confirm whether work authorization sponsorship in the United States will be needed.
