This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Design, implement, test, and maintain both backend and frontend features within the Government repository utilizing the approved technology stack.
β’ Identify architectural challenges, software bugs, and production outages while aiding in the swift restoration of application services.
β’ Engage in the team's rotating urgent-issue escalation support.
β’ Assist in postmortem analyses of incidents and the implementation of corrective measures following production challenges.
β’ Offer technical guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers, including support for design choices and code quality evaluations.
β’ Collaborate with product, UX, data, and QA team members to create requirements, estimates, APIs, release scope, and acceptance criteria.
β’ Integrate security and privacy measures directly into application code.
β’ Develop and sustain effective automated testing across the application.
β’ Ensure accessible application interfaces and adherence to established accessibility standards.
β’ Keep technical and design documentation up to date.
β’ Participate in code reviews and advocate for consistent, maintainable engineering practices throughout the development team.
β’ Construct and uphold the core TTA Hub application for the Office of Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Data Platform.
β’ A minimum of six (6) years of experience in building and maintaining production web applications, with responsibilities that include architecture, testing, and incident recovery.
β’ A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
β’ Proficient development experience with Node.js/TypeScript, Express, and React.
β’ Experience in designing and developing APIs.
β’ Familiarity with PostgreSQL.
β’ Experience working within Agile software development environments.
β’ Knowledge of secure coding practices, encryption, and privacy regulations.
β’ Experience in developing and maintaining unit, integration, and functional tests.
β’ Experience in conducting and participating in code reviews.
β’ Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving production application issues.
β’ U.S. citizenship is required.
β’ Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and acquire a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card.
β’ Preferred: Experience with cloud.gov.
β’ Preferred: Experience with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
β’ Preferred: Experience in developing applications that comply with Section 508 accessibility standards.
β’ Preferred: Experience with HHS integrations.
β’ Preferred: Experience in supporting production applications through an on-call or urgent-issue rotation.
β’ Occasional travel may be necessary.
β’ Full-time schedule with core hours in Eastern Time from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
