Senior Software Engineer – Mission Systems Integration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and integrate customized plugins, services, and middleware within the TAK ecosystem, which includes ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Server, and MILTAK.

• Design and implement Cursor on Target (CoT) data schemas, translations, and event-routing systems connecting tactical devices with enterprise cloud infrastructures.

• Set up, scale, deploy, and manage TAK Server instances across on-premise, edge, and cloud environments.

• Develop dependable, low-latency APIs and data ingestion systems for multi-source sensor and intelligence data.

• Work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and government stakeholders to convert operational mission needs into scalable technical solutions.

• Establish automated CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and testing frameworks for mission software deployed at the edge.

• Diagnose complex tactical network, protocol, and integration challenges across diverse environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Over 7 years of professional experience in software engineering and systems integration.

• More than 3 years of hands-on technical experience within the TAK protocol ecosystem, including expertise in Cursor on Target (CoT) messaging, TAK Server configuration/management, and integration of ATAK/WinTAK/MILTAK.

• Strong command of at least two primary programming languages: Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, C++, or Python.

• Demonstrated experience with network protocols, real-time messaging systems (WebSockets, TCP/UDP, ZeroMQ, MQTT), and data serialization formats (XML, JSON, Protocol Buffers).

• Familiarity with version control systems like Git/GitLab and containerization technologies such as Docker.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% for customer site visits, testing events, and field integration exercises.
