Senior Software Engineer – Integrations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design and execution of significant integrations and subsystems, from partner assessment to production launch and ongoing management.

• Develop and sustain integrations with external data providers covering KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud detection, banking, and identity verification.

• Encapsulate third-party providers behind clean, versioned internal contracts.

• Design, enhance, and manage Worth’s public REST APIs and SDKs, focusing on versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, rate limiting, and user experience for developers.

• Convert ambiguous partner specifications, customer integration needs, and vendor edge cases into explicit technical designs.

• Produce production code across backend and, when necessary, frontend systems utilizing Node.js, TypeScript, Nest.js, and React.js.

• Design and refine PostgreSQL schemas for vendor responses, normalization layers, and crosswalking metadata.

• Create event-driven workflows using Kafka and Redis for enrichment, retries, dead-lettering, and managing backpressure.

• Enhance slow queries and resolve performance issues in high-throughput integration pipelines.

• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot containerized integration services within Kubernetes.

• Develop alerting systems and runbooks to detect vendor degradations before they impact customers.

• Refactor outdated integration code into modular, testable, and interchangeable adapters.

• Address production incidents relating to vendor outages, schema alterations, authentication updates, and quota limitations.

• Oversee code reviews and mentor engineers on integration patterns, resilience, testing strategies, and API design.

• Communicate technical trade-offs to engineering, product, partnerships, and customer-facing teams.

• Ensure reliable vendor and customer integrations with clear rollout, monitoring, and rollback strategies.

• Enhance integration performance, reliability, API consistency, code maintainability, and delivery speed of the squad.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in professional software engineering.

• Proven track record of owning significant features or subsystems in production, ideally with considerable integration or platform-API surface area.

• Profound expertise in the Node.js and TypeScript ecosystem.

• Strong system design capabilities, particularly regarding resilient integrations: retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, rate limiting, webhook management, and graceful degradation.

• Experience in designing or managing a public API or SDK, including versioning, authentication, contracts, and developer ergonomics.

• Practical experience with PostgreSQL, encompassing schema design and query optimization.

• Familiarity with building or maintaining event-driven systems utilizing Kafka.

• Comfort with operating containerized applications in a Kubernetes environment.

• Proven ability to refactor complex or legacy integration code into modular, interchangeable, well-tested adapters.

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior engineers and elevating team quality standards.

• Capability to function effectively in high-ambiguity situations, including incomplete, contradictory, or evolving partner specifications.

• Bonus: direct experience with integrating KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud detection, banking, or identity data providers.

• Bonus: experience in developing and launching a public SDK.

• Bonus: familiarity with AWS services such as MSK, RDS, EKS, S3, and Lambda.

• Bonus: experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
