Senior Software Engineer, Integrations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of one or more partner integration surfaces from start to finish.

• Manage integration surfaces as the needs of sales, success, and product evolve.

• Develop the public API for builders and AI agents representing nonprofits.

• Initiate, prototype, and mitigate risks associated with new partnerships.

• Create and defend API contracts, webhook structures, and data flows.

• Collaborate with the current integrations lead and expand into shared ownership.

• Work alongside Product, Growth, Marketing, and external partner engineers.

• Review partner documentation, troubleshoot integration issues, and clarify implementation strategies.

• Engage in partner engineering discussions.

• Participate in production on-call rotation.

• Utilize and evaluate terminal-based AI development tools within the engineering workflow.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years experience delivering production backend services, preferably using a modern web framework.

• Strong expertise in PHP / Laravel, or proficiency in related frameworks such as Rails, Django, or Spring.

• Extensive knowledge of REST API design, HTTP semantics, and API design patterns.

• Proficient in SQL; specifically MySQL, or possess enough relational database experience to discuss trade-offs.

• Experience working with real-world third-party APIs.

• Capable of designing asynchronous job workflows, queued tasks, and observable failure paths.

• Strong understanding of OAuth, webhooks, and decisions regarding public API trust boundaries.

• Regular use of terminal-based AI development tools like Claude Code or Cursor, with a focus on review discipline.

• Experience contributing to an on-call rotation for production services.

• Comfortable navigating an existing monorepo, especially with PHP / Laravel backends.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

• Preferred: contributions to a public API, custom AI tooling or agent workflows, familiarity with AI agents utilizing APIs, knowledge of API specifications, and experience in nonprofit or mission-driven settings.
