Senior Software Engineer, Golang

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Armenia.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the essential components of Workato’s Recipe runtime, which includes recipe execution, DSL, event pulling, webhook processing, and job execution.

• Design and create distributed backend systems using Go.

• Work on runtime-level components that operate under high concurrency and throughput conditions.

• Utilize knowledge of Go internals to enhance system efficiency.

• Design and refine concurrent workflows leveraging goroutines, channels, synchronization primitives, and context propagation.

• Optimize slices, memory allocations, and data structures for critical performance paths.

• Enhance execution engine support for custom third-party code, focusing on isolation, performance, and feature extensions.

• Modernize runtime components to achieve modularity, structured architecture, and enhanced observability.

• Improve trigger configuration and execution across both webhooks and polling mechanisms.

• Integrate and optimize Postgres, S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse.

• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, race conditions, deadlocks, and performance issues.

• Take ownership of initiatives from design through to rollout and production support.

• Conduct code reviews with a focus on correctness, concurrency safety, and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in developing scalable distributed backend applications.

• Strong knowledge of the foundational elements of large web applications, including databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching systems, and monitoring tools.

• Familiarity with network protocols and stack architectures.

• Understanding of traditional database systems as well as modern NoSQL technologies.

• Proficient in data structures and algorithms.

• Experience in multiple programming languages; the primary codebase is in Ruby, transitioning towards Go and Rust.

• Exceptional debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 7+ years of professional experience.

• Willingness to work remotely with globally distributed teams across various time zones.

• Preferred qualifications: expertise in network programming, application/data security, physical database design, Docker and isolation technologies, public cloud infrastructure, DevOps, ML, DBA, enterprise applications, data processing pipelines, and scalable third-party REST APIs.
