Senior Mobile Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute shared architectural frameworks and modular design systems across native iOS and Android codebases, as well as cross-platform integrations.

• Direct platform-to-client architecture for tailored content delivery across owned digital assets and member station networks.

• Perform technical assessments of custom builds compared to vendor solutions.

• Implement modern technologies and set architectural standards across various divisions.

• Offer technical guidance on cross-divisional product roadmaps, project proposals, and OKR planning cycles.

• Conduct architectural proposals and code evaluations.

• Incorporate privacy compliance, security protocols, CDN caching strategies, and cloud cost optimization into the architecture.

• Engage in automated deployments across QA, UAT, and production environments.

• Participate in the developer on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve critical incidents.

• Write well-documented, maintainable code and reusable core libraries.

• Support the onboarding, training, and interviewing of software engineering personnel.

• Promote effective agile methodologies and foster inclusive team practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including the design and leadership of technical architecture for complex, multi-team platform environments.

• Extensive expertise in native mobile architecture for both iOS and Android platforms.

• Proficient in Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C.

• Experience in designing high-traffic, resilient distributed systems.

• Familiarity with RESTful/GraphQL APIs and client-server integration methodologies.

• Skilled in architecting media playback and streaming protocols.

• Knowledgeable in CDN configurations and cloud infrastructures such as AWS or GCP.

• Experience in integrating GDPR and CPRA privacy compliance standards.

• Understanding of cloud cost optimization strategies in high-availability environments.

• Proficient with Git, continuous integration pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.

• Ability to translate intricate business and product requirements into architectural designs across multiple engineering teams.

• Capable of conducting code reviews and advocating for best engineering practices.

• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving production incidents during on-call rotations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Preferred: familiarity with Go or PHP in event-driven or microservice architectures.

• Preferred: experience with edge media caches, relational databases/SQL, or open-source software.
