Senior Software Engineer – Front End

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, test, and maintain scalable, accessible, and high-performing web applications utilizing React and JavaScript.

• Take ownership of intricate engineering tasks from technical design and implementation through to testing, deployment, and maintenance.

• Produce reusable components and contribute to front-end architecture, coding standards, and development best practices.

• Work collaboratively with backend engineers to integrate APIs and ensure dependable communication between front-end and backend systems.

• Construct and uphold automated testing solutions using tools such as Cypress and Playwright.

• Assist in continuous integration and deployment workflows leveraging GitHub Actions.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues, pinpointing opportunities to enhance application performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to convert user and business requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Engage in technical design discussions, architecture decisions, code reviews, and engineering planning.

• Guide junior engineers through technical mentorship, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.

• Articulate technical decisions, challenges, and recommendations clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and development practices.

• Support digital services for the Department of Veterans Affairs, enhancing user experiences for Veterans, their families, caregivers, and VA employees.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and over 7 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

• Expert-level proficiency in React and JavaScript, with proven experience in developing and maintaining production web applications.

• Strong comprehension of modern front-end architecture, component-based development, and application state management.

• Experience in integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Familiarity with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools.

• Experience with automated front-end testing frameworks such as Cypress and Playwright.

• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, debugging, and testing.

• Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment.

• Capability to independently manage technical deliverables, solve complex issues, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
