Senior Software Engineer, Distributed Data Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Transform the next generation of Onehouse’s data technology stack by developing software and data functionalities that handle ingested data.

• Contribute to Apache Hudi’s transactional engine and enhance its performance for a variety of customer workloads.

• Act as a subject matter expert in database internals, query engines, storage, and stream processing.

• Create concurrency control and transactional features to optimize throughput for multiple writers.

• Develop indexing strategies tailored for incremental data processing and analytical query efficiency.

• Architect systems to scale and enhance metadata and data access across various query and compute engines.

• Address optimization challenges to boost distributed data processing efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness on Kubernetes.

• Utilize existing system data to pinpoint inefficiencies and construct as well as validate prototypes.

• Collaborate with engineers to implement, deploy, and ensure the safe rollout of optimized solutions in production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong skills in object-oriented design and coding in Java and/or C/C++, ideally within a UNIX or Linux environment.

• Over 5 years of experience with the inner workings of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases.

• Capability to tackle ambiguous or undefined problems, think abstractly, and clearly communicate technical challenges and solutions.

• Ability to prioritize feature development and technical debt with speed and urgency.

• Proficiency in solving complex programming and optimization issues.

• Competence in quickly prototyping optimization solutions and analyzing large and complex datasets.

• Strong and effective communication skills.
