Senior Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage essential developer infrastructure services encompassing CI, build systems, deployment orchestration, and testing infrastructure.

• Enhance engineering productivity metrics, which include build and CI time, deployment speed and safety, as well as the quality of test feedback.

• Take full ownership of services from inception to completion, including aspects such as architecture, observability, service level objectives (SLOs), and on-call responsibilities.

• Collaborate with engineering teams throughout Coinbase to identify challenges and translate them into platform enhancements.

• Spearhead technical design for projects that cut across various domains and guide them through to production.

• Provide mentorship to engineers and contribute to defining the technical trajectory of the platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building and maintaining production software.

• Strong foundational knowledge of distributed systems.

• Proficient in Go or a comparable programming language.

• Proven history of delivering high-impact backend or platform systems, taking ownership from design to production.

• Strong operational instincts emphasizing reliability, security, and observability.

• Capability to independently drive projects while collaborating effectively across teams.

• Experience in developer infrastructure or platform areas such as CI/CD, build systems, release tooling, testing infrastructure, or enhancing developer productivity.

• Familiarity with operating at scale using Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and containers.

• Expertise in build systems, remote execution, progressive delivery, or test optimization.

• Experience with observability and performance tools like Datadog.

• Responsible utilization of generative AI with appropriate human oversight.
