Senior Software Engineer – Data Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop AirHub, a state-of-the-art platform that will replace eleven outdated EPA systems.

• Implement features and fixes, starting from understanding requirements to testing and supporting releases.

• Create services, APIs, integrations, and application functionalities.

• Examine legacy databases, write SQL queries, and enhance data migration and validation processes.

• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to clarify workflows, business rules, and desired outcomes.

• Diagnose issues, implement meaningful tests, and uphold code quality and documentation.

• Engage in mob and pair programming sessions.

• Conduct code reviews, share insights, and assist in removing obstacles to delivery.

• Collaborate closely with technical leads and other engineers to provide software that aligns with EPA's environmental goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in building and maintaining production software, with demonstrable examples of completed work.

• Strong programming and debugging capabilities.

• Familiarity with APIs, relational databases, and automated testing methodologies.

• Proficient SQL skills.

• Ability to investigate data flow within an application.

• Capability to learn new code and tools quickly.

• Skill in navigating ambiguity and making informed decisions regarding scope and implementation.

• Effective communication with both technical and non-technical team members.

• Openness to ask questions, share updates, and identify blockers proactively.

• Willingness to take ownership while collaborating and contributing beyond a narrow focus.

• Experience with or the ability to work with Node.js, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and AWS; proficiency in all tools is not mandatory.
