Senior Software Engineer, Corporate Payments

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development, execution, and management of a long-term vision and strategy for Corporate Payments, encompassing both core and cross-cutting services.

• Collaboratively establish and execute a detailed architectural roadmap for platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals, industry standards, and other Corporate Payments teams.

• Promote innovation, teamwork, empowerment, and ongoing learning within engineering teams.

• Challenge existing processes and implement strategies to minimize time-to-market by utilizing efficient engineering practices.

• Work alongside other Corporate Payments engineering teams to promote the reuse of development practices and components, thereby minimizing redundancy.

• Create the next generation of WEX Corporate Payments products, which include user interfaces, APIs, webhooks, and data streams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proficiency in the rapid development and deployment of both internal and external services utilizing cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure.

• Experience in crafting high-quality automation, including well-structured unit, component, and integration tests.

• A thorough understanding of the testing pyramid.

• Strong knowledge of security and compliance requirements in cloud and data environments.

• Practical experience with AI-native engineering tools such as Claude or Cursor.

• Exceptional team-building capabilities and dynamic decision-making skills.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and excel in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Preferred: Experience in developing applications within the finance sector, including credit card products, accounts receivable/payable, etc.

• Preferred: Familiarity with specification-driven development.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with geographically dispersed teams.
