This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
β’ Act as a leader within a software engineering team, actively participating in the planning, scoping, estimation, and implementation of technical solutions, including the adept use of AI-assisted development and delivery tools.
β’ Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to improve software applications, utilizing AI insights to guide design decisions and technical trade-offs when suitable.
β’ Direct projects and make informed, critical architectural choices for the team while optimizing code for performance, scalability, and reliability, including the assessment of AI-driven methods and automation.
β’ Write clean, maintainable code independently using programming languages such as TypeScript, Java, C#, Python, or other relevant technology stacks, while making use of AI-enabled tools.
β’ Participate in code reviews, identify and fix bugs, and enhance existing systems, incorporating AI-powered analysis and testing strategies.
β’ Contribute throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle, from initial design to deployment, integrating AI where it improves quality, efficiency, or maintainability.
β’ Support testing and quality assurance efforts to ensure software reliability and top performance through both traditional and AI-augmented testing methods.
β’ Investigate emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning capabilities, and suggest innovative solutions to technical challenges.
β’ Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
β’ A minimum of 8+ years of relevant and related professional experience.
β’ A Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
β’ Occasional travel, up to 5-10%, for important events such as team summits, training sessions, or conferences.
β’ This role is subject to company on-call policies, which may require working hours outside the standard workday as necessary.
β’ Additional experience may substitute for an advanced degree.
β’ Proficiency in at least one or more programming languages (e.g., TypeScript, Java, C#, Python, or other relevant technology stacks).
β’ Proven experience leading complex coding projects without oversight.
β’ Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., for coding, testing, debugging, or documentation) to enhance productivity and code quality.
β’ Ability to assess, implement, and govern AI solutions responsibly, with a focus on security, performance, and maintainability.
β’ Capability to work with current software design principles, including patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
β’ Experience with SQL and database management.
β’ Knowledge of OWASP threats and mitigation strategies.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
β’ Ability to manage a demanding workload, navigate frequent interruptions, and work with minimal supervision.
β’ Flexibility to adapt to a changing and dynamic environment.
β’ A passion for mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
β’ Familiarity with Kanban methodologies and relevant tools.
β’ Understanding of the Education Technology industry.
