Senior Software Engineer, Core Platform

📋 Description

• Oversee successful cross-team and/or multi-quarter, multi-engineer initiatives

• Propel both existing and new projects forward with a focus on end-user experience

• Discover opportunities to extend impact beyond the Jira board

• Transform team-specific initiatives into opportunities for enhancing the technology platform of the team and organization

• Create an innovative loan servicing platform

• Implement business process automation to boost efficiency

• Work alongside cross-functional partners to pinpoint enhancements and execute scalable solutions

• Refine workflows and integrate various systems

• Provide seamless experiences for borrowers and internal stakeholders

• Contribute to building the engineering team and fostering a positive work environment at Upstart

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience) along with 5+ years in professional software engineering

• At least 3 years of experience in developing backend applications using Kotlin, Java, or another object-oriented programming language

• Proven experience in designing, constructing, and managing distributed systems, including service-to-service APIs and event-driven architectures

• Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining scalable backend services that process business-critical or financial data in production settings

• Experience in contributing to decision engines that integrate with machine learning models to assess signals

• Skilled in writing production-quality code backed by automated testing, monitoring, and observability practices

• Team operates across East/West coast time zones

• For positions located in Canada, candidates must not reside in Quebec
