Senior Software Engineer, Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain Java backend services utilizing Spring Boot or analogous frameworks.

• Implement features pertaining to registration, KYC, login and MFA, device registration, account management, tax reporting, Fanatics ID integration, and watchlist monitoring.

• Create and uphold services that enforce regulatory and responsible gaming standards, including geolocation, state and self-exclusion, prohibited persons, loss limits, and eligibility requirements.

• Establish integrations with third-party identity, verification, geolocation, and compliance services, with a focus on designing for failure, retries, and data integrity.

• Develop scalable, thoroughly tested services with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage.

• Participate in architectural and design discussions for APIs, event-driven systems, and data flows.

• Diagnose complex production issues and engage in the weekly on-call rotation, maintaining runbooks and conducting post-mortems.

• Collaborate with Product, Technical Program Management, Compliance, Support, and client engineering to deliver technical solutions in an agile manner.

• Guide junior to mid-level engineering colleagues through code reviews, design feedback, and collaborative work sessions.

• Adhere to engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, observability, feature flagging, and documentation; manage technical debt effectively.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience with Java.

• Significant experience in building and supporting production Java backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.

• Proficient in developing REST APIs and integrating distributed systems and data flows.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or comparable messaging platforms.

• Experience working in AWS or other cloud environments.

• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL data stores, including Postgres and MongoDB.

• Experience with AI tools or coding assistants to enhance engineering productivity.

• Strong troubleshooting, ownership, and communication skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Preferred experience with identity and account systems, KYC, fraud prevention, or payments.

• Preferred experience with compliance-driven systems.

• Desired experience in building highly available, regulated, or enterprise-scale applications.

• Familiarity with observability tools and operating services on call is a plus.
