Senior Software Engineer, Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services utilizing Spring Boot or comparable frameworks.

• Implement features related to registration, KYC, login and MFA, device registration, account management, tax reporting, Fanatics ID integration, and watchlist monitoring.

• Create and uphold services that comply with regulatory and responsible gaming standards, including geolocation, state and self-exclusion, prohibited persons, loss limits, and eligibility requirements.

• Establish integrations with third-party identity, verification, geolocation, and compliance providers, ensuring robustness against failures, implementing retries, and maintaining data integrity.

• Develop scalable, well-tested services featuring strong unit and integration test coverage.

• Engage in architecture and design discussions for APIs, event-driven systems, and data flows.

• Diagnose complex production issues and take part in the weekly on-call rotation, runbooks, and post-mortems.

• Collaborate with Product, Technical Program Management, Compliance, Support, and client engineering on technical solutions and agile delivery practices.

• Guide junior to mid-level engineering colleagues through code reviews, design feedback, and collaborative coding sessions.

• Adhere to engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, observability, feature flagging, and documentation while addressing technical debt.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience with Java.

• Extensive experience in building and supporting production-grade Java backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.

• Proficient in developing REST APIs and integrating distributed systems and data flows.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or other similar messaging platforms.

• Experience in AWS or alternative cloud environments.

• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL data stores, including Postgres and MongoDB.

• Experience with AI tools or coding assistants to enhance engineering productivity.

• Strong troubleshooting abilities, ownership mindset, and communication skills, with the capacity to work independently and alongside cross-functional partners.

• Experience with identity and account systems, KYC, fraud, or payments is preferred.

• Familiarity with compliance-driven systems is preferred.

• Experience in building highly available, regulated, or enterprise-scale applications is preferred.

• Knowledge of observability tooling and experience operating services on call is a plus.
