Senior Software Engineer, Cluster Scalability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop foundational distributed-database infrastructure and tools that empower customers to extend workloads beyond a single node.

• Collaboratively conceptualize and construct distributed systems that integrate query-processing and storage nodes into a cohesive database architecture.

• Create features for data movement and dynamic scaling.

• Enhance horizontal scaling, cluster adaptability, and workload execution efficiency.

• Address intricate performance challenges.

• Design protocols for the relocation and positioning of data without interruptions.

• Familiarize yourself with MongoDB architecture and its components, while troubleshooting bugs.

• Contribute to initiatives planned for MongoDB's upcoming releases.

• Conduct code reviews and engage in design evaluations.

• Spearhead the development of innovative features.

• Guide and mentor new engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building distributed systems.

• Proven experience in developing production-grade C++ code with a significant user base, a solid design framework, and stringent code quality standards.

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture.

• Enthusiasm for system design in large-scale distributed systems, with practical or academic experience in the field.

• Knowledge of contemporary computer architecture and its internals.

• Proven success in the industry or academic research in high-performance/low-latency networking, performance optimization, distributed systems, system observability, or system resilience.
