Senior Software Engineer, Canvas Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and execute Canvas platform capabilities from the initial problem definition through to implementation, release, measurement, and iteration.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to craft user experiences while balancing technical delivery with the platform's long-term needs.

• Design and develop maintainable systems for the Canvas platform, ensuring accountability for quality, performance, reliability, and the overall developer experience.

• Contribute to the creation of developer-friendly APIs, define service boundaries, and establish platform contracts.

• Leverage AI-assisted tools and agentic workflows for prototyping, implementing, testing, documenting, and measuring work.

• Enhance the team through technical design reviews, demonstrations, code reviews, mentorship, and improvements in engineering practices.

• Construct and advance canvas systems that encompass document and object models, spatial indexing, layout behavior, asset management, and selection mechanics.

• Engage in the development of large-scale concurrent and real-time collaboration systems, which include synchronization, event ordering, latency management, conflict resolution, and handling failure modes.

• Assist in the design, construction, and integration of AI-enabled product features.

• Optimize performance through profiling, identifying bottlenecks, simplifying architecture, and relocating costly operations away from critical interaction paths.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, with knowledge of React, Node.js, or similar contemporary frameworks.

• Over 6 years of experience in building and delivering large-scale production software within an agile engineering environment.

• Proven experience in designing scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems, along with developer-facing abstractions.

• Background in creating clean API contracts and defining service boundaries, including data models, versioning, validation, error handling, documentation, and maintainability.

• Experience in constructing distributed, concurrent, collaborative, or low-latency systems.

• Understanding of synchronization, consistency, event ordering, latency, failure modes, and performance trade-offs.

• Familiarity with complex systems featuring rich object models, spatial indexing and querying, layout behavior, asset management, selection mechanics, and performance-sensitive interactions is a significant advantage.

• Interest in or hands-on experience with AI-enhanced product capabilities.

• Experience in performance optimization, including profiling, analyzing bottlenecks, ensuring memory and CPU efficiency, reducing latency, and enhancing responsiveness.

• Practical experience utilizing AI-assisted tools for prototyping, implementing, testing, documenting, and measuring engineering initiatives.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, combined with a low-ego mindset.
