Senior Software Engineer, Business Map

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy features within the backend services of Business Map, from initial design through to production rollout.

• Take full ownership of a feature area, managing everything from testing, monitoring, to staged rollouts using feature flags.

• Collaborate with engineers from partner teams as they integrate new location and organization data.

• Participate in the team's on-call rotation and address the root causes of any issues that arise.

• Create design documents for features and provide insightful code reviews.

• Support junior engineers through pairing sessions and code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in building backend services using Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented programming language.

• Strong proficiency in relational databases and SQL, particularly Postgres.

• Proven experience in managing and operating production systems, including handling on-call duties and debugging live issues.

• Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven messaging, or microservices architecture.

• Demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous projects from the design phase to production implementation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers and product partners.

• Experience or a keen interest in utilizing coding agents and AI-assisted development on a daily basis.

• Capability to implement changes in a large, long-standing codebase while it continues to serve production traffic.

• Knowledge of multi-tenant data models, account hierarchies, or systems that operate across multiple locations.

• Familiarity with gRPC, GraphQL, or platforms for event streaming.

• Experience in React and TypeScript for developing internal tools.

• Understanding of restaurant or operations in a multi-location business context.
