Senior Software Engineer – Bet Engine

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, optimize, and enhance the performance of GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries for sportsbook wagering and grading, casino transactions, financial ledgers, responsible gaming, tax and regulatory compliance, promotions, and risk management.

• Take ownership of significant technical challenges, formulate proposals, and present them to leadership and partner teams.

• Architect, design, and implement features from start to finish within an agile/scrum setting.

• Identify production bottlenecks and risks, and lead initiatives for scalability enhancements.

• Configure and optimize Datadog for monitoring and alerting.

• Guide engineers through specifications, collaboration, and code reviews.

• Work together with stakeholders across different business areas to deliver products, improve operations, and achieve cost efficiencies.

• Integrate internal, third-party, legacy, and modern systems through data migrations, translations, and the necessary infrastructure.

• Ensure the performance, resilience, reliability, accuracy, and compliance of the platform that supports sportsbook wagering, casino wagering, financial recordkeeping, data residency, and regulatory enforcement.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• Strong proficiency in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.

• Experience in identifying production enhancements through load testing and tracing.

• Proven ability to investigate and resolve CPU, I/O, memory, and latency regressions in high-throughput services.

• Familiarity with on-call rotations and managing release cycles from start to finish.

• Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, Fast API, Laravel, or Node.

• Over 2 years of experience in designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for iOS, Android, and Web clients.

• Experience in building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms, including geo-based routing and per-client configuration.

• In-depth knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL, along with relational database theory.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments.

• Proficiency with command line tools, Git, and GitHub or similar platforms.

• Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.

• Experience in background job processing tools such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.

• Knowledge of asynchronous event handling systems like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.

• Familiarity with agile software development tools and workflows is a significant advantage.

• Experience in developing financial, legal, and/or process accounting systems with a focus on correctness and auditability.

• NICE TO HAVE: Experience with Elixir, hexagonal architecture, Domain Driven Development, open source contributions, startup experience, and a passion for sports and/or esports.
