This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and enhance real-time invariant enforcement systems across the financial flows at Coinbase.
• Play a key role in the core detection engine, invariant framework, and onboarding tools.
• Manage workstreams from inception to completion, collaborating with partner teams to create correctness models and oversee production operations.
• Guarantee that new fund flows are protected by Overseer's integrity assurances.
• Create AI-driven guardrails, including predictive consistency models and proactive invariant identification.
• Collaborate with FinHub, Payments, and Trading teams to formulate and execute correctness contracts.
• Convert financial regulations into actionable system invariants.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers in distributed systems design, correctness methodologies, and best practices for production operations.
• Develop and expand the real-time integrity layer that enforces financial correctness throughout Coinbase's fund flows.
• Over 5 years of experience in building and managing large-scale distributed systems in a production environment.
• Background in financial systems, payments, reconciliation, or high-reliability transactional infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in backend languages such as Go, Ruby, or Python.
• Experience in constructing platform-level infrastructure utilized by various teams, including APIs, frameworks, or detection systems.
• Capacity to independently manage workstreams in uncertain environments.
• Proven experience in designing correctness models and maintaining them through production phases.
• Familiarity with streaming data infrastructures like Kafka, Flink, Spark, or similar technologies.
• Experience with distributed data stores such as Postgres, DynamoDB, or comparable systems.
• Knowledge of real-time or near-real-time processing contexts.
• Responsible application of generative AI with appropriate human oversight.
