This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +5 more countries.
β’ Take charge of backend, data, and infrastructure to deliver Forager's data to platform customers at scale, managing everything from ingestion through APIs and integrated customer feeds.
β’ Design, develop, and manage RESTful APIs for enrichment, search, feeds, and workflows tailored for platform customers.
β’ Create scalable backend services, workers, task queues, waterfall lookups, and data pipelines.
β’ Implement metering, credit-logging, and billing logic to ensure accurate customer consumption.
β’ Engage in product planning and assist in prioritizing high-impact features.
β’ Manage the Elasticsearch / ECK search stack, overseeing index design, ingestion, relevance tuning, cluster health, scaling, and migrations.
β’ Design and operate ETL applications that transfer data into searchable stores, bulk feeds, Snowflake, S3, and warehouses.
β’ Enhance PostgreSQL query performance, indexing, and cache utilization.
β’ Propel improvements in latency, uptime, error rate, fill rate, and scalability.
β’ Oversee AWS infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and on-call responses.
β’ Lead infrastructure modernization efforts and participate in crawler infrastructure maintenance.
β’ Create Grafana dashboards, conduct load tests, and perform data-accuracy evaluations.
β’ Contribute to the customer-facing React/TypeScript application, along with documentation, onboarding, and self-service features.
β’ Conduct code reviews; write unit, integration, and E2E tests.
β’ Document features, architecture, and API contracts.
β’ A minimum of 5 years in building and managing production backend systems and APIs, showcasing strategic technical problem-solving abilities (not solely based on tenure).
β’ Strong expertise in Python / Django REST Framework.
β’ Practical experience operating Elasticsearch / OpenSearch at scale, including index/mapping design, query and relevance tuning, cluster management, and migrations.
β’ Proven experience in constructing and managing ETL pipelines that reliably handle significant data volumes.
β’ Hands-on production experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and asynchronous task systems (like Celery / RabbitMQ or similar).
β’ Deep familiarity with AWS (ECS, S3, CloudWatch), infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD (like GitHub Actions or its equivalents).
β’ Experience running services in production, including observability, on-call duties, and incident response.
β’ Proficient in React / TypeScript.
β’ Excellent written communication skills; comfortable taking ownership of documentation as a deliverable.
β’ Daily hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar.
β’ Experience in designing, orchestrating, and debugging multi-step agent pipelines, including MCP server integration and tool-use design.
β’ Sound judgment on when AI is beneficial versus detrimental in production tasks.
β’ Demonstrated agentic workflow experience; candidates lacking this will not be considered.
