Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Identity International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and deliver on the team's quarterly objectives.

• Guide engineers through complex, open-ended challenges while providing support throughout the delivery process.

• Work collaboratively with product management, design, and analytics during the entire product development lifecycle.

• Engage in brainstorming sessions and clearly communicate technical limitations.

• Collaborate on decisions that take into account risks and trade-offs.

• Identify and lead the resolution of issues related to projects, processes, technology, and business.

• Establish and track metrics that support operations and system availability.

• Raise issues and assist with ongoing operational support and on-call responsibilities.

• Set and enhance standards for code reviews and design practices.

• Promote engineering standards through written communication and technical presentations.

• Cultivate talent by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

• Write code in Kotlin and Python, deliver features, troubleshoot production problems, and ensure system reliability.

• Minimize repetitive tasks, create playbooks, mentor engineers, assist new hires and interns, and participate in the hiring process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems.

• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.

• Proven experience in developing highly available distributed systems.

• Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in defining technical strategies for major features or system components.

• Skills in creating elegant, simple, and extensible system designs.

• Commitment to high-quality coding practices.

• Capability to implement significant changes within a large codebase.

• Knowledge of tools and practices that facilitate safe modifications to the codebase.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a global engineering team.
