Senior Software Engineer – Backend Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a knowledgeable individual contributor within a software engineering team.

• Enhance leadership abilities, along with guidance and mentoring skills.

• Assist in meeting scope, schedule, and delivery objectives with minimal supervision.

• Contribute to the development strategy and long-term objectives of the program.

• Exhibit ownership and accountability for contributions to an application codebase.

• Facilitate integration with related technical systems and ecosystems.

• Identify and resolve issues in managed systems, leveraging incidents to promote education and system enhancements.

• Guide and support junior engineers.

• Convey technical issues and progress to team members and clients.

• Engage in technical interviews.

• Suggest and assess solutions for technical and process-related challenges.

• Lead small, less critical, temporary teams and projects when necessary.

• Present design documents and system diagrams to clients, stakeholders, partners, and engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in developing systems and applications for Federal clients.

• Experience in enterprise-level, high-availability application development.

• Knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD) patterns for separation of concerns, code reusability, security, and performance.

• Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks such as React.js, Angular, and Node.js.

• Experience in writing clean, well-architected code.

• Background in cloud computing with platforms like Cloud Foundry, Azure, or AWS.

• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment practices, such as Jenkins.

• Experience with Source Control Management, preferably Git/GitHub.

• Strong database skills, ideally with Oracle or SQL Server.

• Knowledge of SQL or similar query languages and data constructs including XML and JSON.

• Experience in developing or consuming Web Services (REST, SOAP, JSON), ETL jobs, and APIs (Service-oriented architectures).

• Practical experience applying digital accessibility standards and best practices, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA.

• Experience with accessibility testing tools such as Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, and screen readers (JAWS/NVDA).

• Strong understanding of functional, SOA, and performance testing methodologies.

• Prior experience in government contracting is preferred.
