Senior Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement backend services and features utilizing Ruby on Rails.

• Take ownership of well-defined backend tasks from start to finish.

• Create and design scalable systems and databases.

• Work collaboratively with product managers, front-end engineers, and stakeholders to convert requirements into thoroughly tested code.

• Develop core platform features with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Utilize and enhance AI tools to expedite backend delivery.

• Engage in code reviews, offering constructive feedback.

• Provide mentorship to peers.

• Establish automated test coverage and manage CI/CD pipelines.

• Diagnose and resolve production issues.

• Own and contribute to integrations with pharmaceutical partners, hubs, and pharmacies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in backend software development.

• Expertise in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

• Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL schema design and efficient querying.

• Experience in designing and consuming JSON APIs.

• Familiarity with backend testing frameworks.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in creating background jobs using Redis and Sidekiq.

• Proficient in building scalable backend systems.

• Excellent problem-solving and debugging capabilities.

• Ability to communicate clearly and explain technical choices and trade-offs.

• Strong grasp of security principles, including PHI, authentication, and safe production changes.
