Senior Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and ensure the achievement of quarterly objectives for the team.

• Guide engineers through uncertain situations to resolve open-ended challenges and assist the team during the delivery process.

• Work collaboratively with product management, design, and analytics throughout the entire product development lifecycle.

• Engage in brainstorming sessions, clearly articulate technical limitations, and collaborate on decisions involving risks and trade-offs.

• Identify and lead the resolution of issues related to projects, processes, technology, and business operations.

• Develop and track metrics that support the operations and availability of team deliverables.

• Address issues and assist with ongoing operational support and on-call responsibilities.

• Establish and enhance code review and design standards.

• Promote engineering standards through writing and technical presentations.

• Foster talent by providing constructive feedback, guidance, and serving as a role model.

• Design and construct backend systems that facilitate millisecond transaction processing, ledgering, and reconciliation for Affirm's transparent credit card offerings.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems.

• Familiarity with technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in deploying front-end applications.

• Ability to outline technical plans for significant features or system components.

• Capability to create elegant, simple, and extensible design solutions.

• Proficiency in writing high-quality, maintainable code.

• Experience in making substantial changes to large codebases safely.

• Background in developing tools and practices that facilitate safe modifications.

• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and actively seeking feedback.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
