Senior Software Engineer, Backend – Account Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and achieve quarterly objectives for the team.

• Guide engineers through uncertainty to resolve complex challenges.

• Provide support to team members throughout the delivery process.

• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during the ideation and product development phases.

• Clearly communicate technical limitations and collaborate on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.

• Identify, champion, and lead the resolution of project, process, technology, or business challenges.

• Establish and track metrics for team outputs.

• Address issues and support ongoing operations and on-call responsibilities.

• Set or enhance standards for code reviews and design practices.

• Promote quality and accountability through written communication and technical presentations.

• Cultivate team talent through constructive feedback and mentorship.

• Develop backend orchestration layers that enhance Web and Mobile interfaces.

• Take ownership and deliver systems that prioritize high availability and low latency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• Proven history of developing highly available distributed systems.

• Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• Experience working closely with web and mobile technologies.

• Knowledge of frontend design patterns like fraud prevention and backend-for-frontend.

• Experience in creating technical plans for significant features or system components.

• Strong skills in producing elegant, simple, and extensible designs.

• Ability to write high-quality, comprehensible code.

• Expertise in making significant modifications to a large codebase safely.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
