Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools as appropriate to design, develop, test, document, and deploy components of the Messaging Security Group services.

• Create and implement product components across the entire software stack, ensuring robust test coverage and automation.

• Meet project timelines, quality expectations, and requirements effectively.

• Engage in project planning and deliver high-value solutions that fulfill business needs.

• Analyze and comprehend project requirements thoroughly.

• Contribute to product design that aligns with technical strategy, quality standards, and functional requirements.

• Mentor junior team members through pair programming and conducting code reviews.

• Actively participate in daily stand-ups, kick-offs, collaborative estimation, and retrospective meetings.

• Take part in security reviews and assess product security issues.

• Present security documentation as needed.

• Engage in code reviews to ensure quality standards.

• Define test scenarios and create test cases for validation.

• Collaborate with senior development leaders, architects, product management, and the global Sophos UI team.

• May lead projects under the mentorship of an architect or senior technical lead.

• Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production services.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude and Codex.

• At least 5 years of experience in software development with Java, JavaScript, Angular, GoLang, and possibly React.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and deploying micro-services on AWS (ECS or EKS).

• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and testing software systems and components.

• Comfort in presenting your designs before the Tech Council.

• Strong ability to read code and review pull requests.

• Experience with leading cloud technologies and troubleshooting large-scale cloud applications.

• Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsorship.
