This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Design, develop, and maintain tailored software solutions that support Knowledge & Innovation initiatives, including AI-driven tools, internal platforms, and integrations with existing Firm systems.
• Collaborate with the Director of Engineering on architectural decisions, ensuring a balance between speed, reliability, and maintainability.
• Create and enhance integrations among SaaS platforms, internal systems, data sources, and AI/LLM services utilized in legal workflows.
• Develop refined frontend experiences, which include component libraries and foundational design systems.
• Take ownership of and evolve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, infrastructure-as-code, and development environment tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and other observability practices for production systems.
• Work alongside IT on security protocols, cloud resources, and deployment targets.
• Ensure systems are dependable, secure, and in alignment with Firmwide technology standards.
• Contribute to the development of AI-powered retrieval-augmented systems, document analysis platforms, search tools, and workflow automation.
• Convert complex legal and business requirements into practical software solutions in collaboration with attorneys, knowledge management professionals, data scientists, and practice solutions teams.
• Demonstrate tools, solicit feedback, and assist legal staff in adopting solutions.
• Assess and prototype tools, frameworks, and methodologies; share successful experiments with the team.
• Assist in establishing the engineering culture and operational methodologies for a new function.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 7 years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of increasing scope and responsibility.
• Proficient full-stack capabilities in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Python.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or Azure), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Bicep), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Practical experience with AI/LLM integration in production systems or a strong desire and aptitude to develop it.
• Experience with coding tools that utilize agentic methods (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders — capable of demonstrating work, gathering feedback, and clearly explaining technical decisions.
• Experience in legal technology, professional services, or other highly regulated sectors (preferred).
• Background in establishing observability and monitoring practices for production systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of design systems, component libraries, or frontend architecture patterns at the systems level (preferred).
• Experience in integrating and extending enterprise SaaS platforms (preferred).
