Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and implement new features and functionalities for OCI registries within Red Hat, including quay.io and registry.redhat.io.

• Manage a virtual, globally distributed infrastructure for quay.io utilizing Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS, encompassing EC2, Aurora Postgres, RDS Proxy, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and more.

• Utilize Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Go, Python, JavaScript, React, Git, Redis, SQL, and OCI to enhance and expand quay.io.

• Collaborate with Product Management to influence business and roadmap strategies concerning Quay.io.

• Work alongside internal teams to integrate the quay.io service experience with the broader Red Hat portfolio.

• Engage in and contribute to weekly on-call rotation duties.

• Provide mentorship to fellow Quay.io Engineers and assist in optimizing overall team efficiency.

• Offer architectural insights for scaling quay.io to accommodate future demands.

• Lead post-incident reviews, establish alerts, and minimize recovery time following service disruptions.

• Manage documentation for quay.io and registry.redhat.io, offering guidance and assistance to peers and customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (U.S. or equivalent international degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Four (4) years of experience in the position offered or a similar role.

• Four (4) years of experience with Python, JavaScript, React, Git, and Linux.

• Four (4) years of experience with databases and writing SQL queries, including Postgres, Redis, and ORMs.

• Four (4) years of experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift, including writing, deploying, and managing Operators in Go.

• Four (4) years of experience in SaaS development and on-call support for web applications hosted on AWS.

• Four (4) years of experience with OCI and container registries, including Docker or Podman.

• Four (4) years of experience with CI/CD practices and releases.

• One (1) year of experience with agentic coding using Claude Code and/or Cursor.
