Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy backend services and internal tools that support both teams and customers.

• Take ownership of medium to large features from inception to completion.

• Write high-quality, efficient, secure, and testable code.

• Work with technologies including JVM, Elixir, Ruby, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Kafka, AWS/Lambda, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and other related tools.

• Shape architecture, engineering standards, and delivery methodologies.

• Review pull requests, offer constructive feedback, collaborate with teammates, and assist in onboarding new team members.

• Responsibly deploy both user-facing and operator-facing code to production.

• Collaborate with product managers, engineering leadership, and stakeholders to resolve ambiguities and balance user needs with technical limitations.

• Enhance reliability and maintainability through metrics, lessons learned from incidents, and improved observability.

• Manage data in compliance with company policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven track record in building production-ready web applications and backend systems with a focus on reliability and security.

• Experience in influencing technical direction, including architecture, standards, and delivery processes.

• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Elixir, Erlang, Ruby, JavaScript, Next.js, or another programming language.

• Willingness to work on JVM services using Java or Kotlin when necessary.

• Familiarity with IDEs, RESTful APIs, Git repositories, TypeScript, version control systems, and remote deployment tools.

• Understanding of event-driven architectures, event streaming technologies like Kafka, database fundamentals, and GraphQL or similar APIs.

• Ability to work with complex, contextual domain data and integrate with adjacent services.

• Preferred: experience in production environments with JVM services and/or web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and React.

• Preferred: experience incorporating LLMs or managed AI APIs into backend or internal tools.

• Preferred: experience in developing microservices integrated with adjacent teams or shared platforms, such as eCommerce or marketplace systems.

• Preferred: experience with dashboards, monitoring, incident response, Python in a production backend role, or possess a Bachelor of Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
