Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Develop, manage, and sustain robust software solutions utilizing object-oriented programming principles.

• Exercise judgment when utilizing, validating, or modifying AI-generated outputs.

• Influence technical direction and facilitate discussions around architecture.

• Mentor colleagues through technical challenges.

• Design scalable systems and upgrade legacy systems.

• Recognize responsible applications of AI-assisted automation for code evaluation, triage, documentation, and skill development.

• Take ownership and enhance messaging/event infrastructure with Kafka and other messaging tools.

• Collaborate on AWS services including Fargate, Bedrock, EC2, ECS, SNS/SQS, RDS, and Elasticsearch.

• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and automation for deployments.

• Utilize SQL and NoSQL expertise to develop scalable data solutions.

• Lead and engage in rotational on-call responsibilities.

• Propel reliability enhancements and proactive monitoring efforts.

• Shape strategic roadmaps and enhance the developer experience across different disciplines.

• Conduct code assessments and encourage a culture of learning.

• Advocate for comprehensive documentation and design records.

• Collaborate with internal tooling teams to enhance AI-driven orchestration, review, and triage tools.

• Coach engineers and nurture a collaborative and inquisitive team culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 9 years of experience in software development.

• Demonstrated professional experience in object-oriented programming with Java and at least one other language, preferably C#.

• Familiarity with Kafka; other messaging systems will also be considered.

• Experience with microservices architecture.

• In-depth understanding of system design and scalable architectures.

• Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS.

• Strong foundation in infrastructure, DevOps, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes.

• Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Daily interaction with AI coding/review tools.

• Proven ability to critically assess AI-generated outputs.

• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Natural inclination towards mentoring.

• Team-oriented and inquisitive in problem-solving approaches.

• Enthusiasm for continuous learning.

• Willingness to engage in rotational on-call responsibilities.
