Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify problems, organize tasks, and make tradeoffs alongside Product and Design teams.

• Create systems that encompass data models, API specifications, and failure scenarios.

• Break down tasks and draft specifications for AI agents to execute.

• Write code as necessary for debugging or when complexity demands it.

• Establish test coverage and testing standards, oversee AI-generated tests, and verify their effectiveness.

• Integrate security, reliability, and observability into system architecture.

• Conduct thorough reviews of all work, regardless of whether it was completed by a human or an AI agent.

• Make decisions regarding deployment and address on-call incidents.

• Utilize incidents as opportunities to enhance production systems.

• Mentor engineers on how to specify, delegate, and validate tasks involving AI.

• Collaborate throughout the process with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to develop customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a cohesive design system, and AI-driven product features.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive server-side experience with modern programming languages like Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go.

• Full ownership of services from beginning to end.

• Familiarity with REST contracts, versioning, OAuth2/OIDC, schema design, and SQL.

• Experience in production environments with asynchronous and event-driven systems such as Kafka.

• Understanding of idempotency and at-least-once delivery principles.

• Proven experience in building and managing scalable production systems on AWS or Azure.

• Proficient with containers, Kubernetes or serverless architectures, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with on-call production operations.

• Capability to define and advocate for unit, integration, and contract testing strategies.

• Responsibility for reliability and security standards, including SLOs, incident management, OWASP guidelines, and threat modeling.

• Experience with PHI/HIPAA or similar regulated data environments.

• Significant hands-on experience using agentic AI as a primary development platform, including deploying and managing production systems.

• Ability to detect subtle errors in outputs generated by AI.

• Preferred experience with LLM application engineering, covering RAG, retrieval quality, evaluations, and LLM observability, or contemporary TypeScript frontend development aligned with a design system.
