Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create and implement production-ready, testable, and comprehensible solutions across various products within the team.

• Build backend services utilizing NestJS, TypeScript, TypeORM, and PostgreSQL.

• Develop frontend functionalities using Next.js and React versions 18–19.

• Assist in replacing outdated Java/Spring Boot services and extracting capabilities from a PHP monolith into contemporary services.

• Implement best practices for security, unit testing, integration, Cypress E2E testing, documentation, and monitoring.

• Deploy and manage services on AWS utilizing ECS, Lambda, SQS, Docker, AWS CDK, Terraform, and CodeBuild CI/CD.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools for tasks such as code generation, refactoring, test creation, and navigating legacy code.

• Propel larger sets of changes to completion across multiple sprints.

• Define scope, foresee obstacles, clarify expectations, and prioritize tasks based on value versus cost analysis.

• Share expertise through tech talks, documentation, design reviews, and guidance on AI-tool workflows.

• Mentor new engineers and contribute to on-call duties, tooling, and quality initiatives.

• Offer and integrate constructive feedback.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience in building and maintaining production full-stack web applications.

• Advanced expertise in TypeScript/Node.js with NestJS and Express, or substantial experience with Java/Spring Boot coupled with a strong desire to work in TypeScript.

• Strong skills in relational databases such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, and ORM utilization.

• Proven experience in frontend engineering with React; familiarity with Next.js is highly preferred.

• Experience with component architecture, state management, SSR/ISR, accessibility, and frontend performance optimization.

• Proficient in designing and consuming REST APIs; knowledge of GraphQL is an advantage.

• Solid foundation in automated testing and CI/CD practices.

• Experience with AWS and Docker/containerized deployments.

• Capable of working independently on multi-sprint projects.

• Demonstrated daily fluency with AI coding assistants and agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Preferred: experience in legacy-system modernization, infrastructure-as-code, message-driven architectures, GraphQL, gRPC, headless CMS, React Native/Expo, Python, LLM integrations, RAG, embeddings, agentic workflows, and an interest in sports cards, gaming, or collectibles.
