Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based services, APIs, and event-driven solutions for digital freight pricing, booking, and carrier experiences.

• Construct intelligent platforms and experimentation frameworks for AI-driven and human-assisted pricing and costing decisions.

• Collaborate with data science teams to implement, validate, and enhance machine learning solutions.

• Design real-time and near-real-time systems that enhance platform performance, data quality, observability, and operational excellence.

• Facilitate technical design discussions and shape architectural decisions across various domains.

• Convert intricate business challenges into scalable solutions.

• Apply best practices for testing, security, monitoring, automation, and continuous delivery.

• Guarantee highly available and resilient systems.

• Guide and mentor engineers to elevate software development practices.

• Work in partnership with Product, Architecture, Revenue Management, Operations, and Engineering teams.

• Contribute to AI-assisted engineering capabilities, which include coding harnesses, validation guardrails, and development tools that enhance productivity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proficient in Python development at an expert level.

• Solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and API design.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and contemporary engineering productivity practices, including coding agents and harnesses.

• Background in building and managing cloud-native applications.

• Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.

• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proficiency in Git and Azure DevOps.

• Comprehensive understanding of software security principles and secure development practices.

• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives from concept to production.

• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python frameworks.

• Knowledge of Azure cloud services, Kubernetes, and containerized workloads.

• Experience in building highly transactional systems.

• Background in pricing, booking, order management, logistics, transportation, or marketplace platforms.

• Experience with data-intensive applications and real-time decision-making platforms.

• Proven track record of enhancing the quality, reliability, and maintainability of large-scale software platforms.
