Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of engineers, promoting innovation, accountability, and teamwork.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, provide coaching and feedback, and assist in professional growth.

• Engage in recruitment, onboarding, team development strategies, and performance management activities.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

• Contribute to significant development projects and resolve engineering challenges.

• Direct architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical decision-making processes.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and stakeholders to define and implement solutions.

• Partner with Product to shape epics, plan sprints, and prioritize the backlog effectively.

• Be responsible for team-level sprint planning, delivery schedules, and status updates.

• Hold the team accountable for sprint commitments and ensure on-time delivery.

• Identify and manage technical dependencies and risks.

• Advocate for best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.

• Foster continuous improvement in tools, workflows, and team processes.

• Assist in defining and executing the long-term technical strategy.

• Build and maintain client-facing components for BlueMatrix’s investment research authoring, distribution, analysis, knowledge management, and digital communications applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including 1–2+ years in a leadership or team lead role.

• Familiarity with AWS Lambda, ECS, SQS, Kinesis, SendGrid, Postfix, and Terraform.

• Experience in designing and delivering scalable, production-ready systems and applications.

• Comfortable contributing to both frontend and backend codebases.

• Strong understanding of modern development practices, architectural patterns, and engineering tools.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, particularly across cross-functional teams.

• Proven experience in delivering reliable, high-performance REST APIs.

• Keen interest in database and query performance optimization.

• Knowledge and experience with scrum/agile development methodologies.

• Familiarity with code reviews, service ownership, fully automated testing, microservices, and rapid/continuous releases.

• Preferred: technical expertise in email processing and tracking within large systems.

• Preferred: experience with serverless architectures, queuing, and streaming technologies.

• Preferred: willingness to be on-call for support and to interact directly with clients as necessary.

• Preferred: experience working directly in the finance sector and/or within a SaaS startup environment.
