Senior Software Developer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, architecture, and implementation of sophisticated backend systems that facilitate 3D and computer vision experiences at scale.

• Oversee the development of essential APIs, data pipelines, and services that support high-traffic applications utilized globally.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to establish technical direction and plan key investments for scalability and performance.

• Mentor senior engineers, conduct architecture evaluations, and foster high-quality, rapid development across teams.

• Advocate for the scalability, resilience, observability, and maintainability of backend systems.

• Lead cross-departmental initiatives that involve multiple teams and business stakeholders.

• Contribute to shaping the long-term technical vision and culture of the engineering organization.

• Play a significant role in influencing hiring, onboarding, and growth strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience in building and operating scalable, reliable systems in production environments.

• In-depth understanding of computer science fundamentals, encompassing algorithms, data structures, networking, and databases.

• Proven track record in designing and scaling distributed systems with an emphasis on performance, observability, and fault tolerance.

• Strong architectural instincts and the capability to make impactful technical decisions across various teams and systems.

• Demonstrated ability to influence and mentor senior engineers while enhancing engineering practices.

• Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-autonomy, product-driven environment.

• Significant experience with complex ETL processes and high-throughput systems is highly preferred.

• Experience in e-commerce and catalog management is preferred.

• Familiarity with Python, Django, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and AWS is strongly preferred; expertise in similar systems and a willingness to learn will also be accepted.
