Senior Software Developer, Back-end

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Develop architecture, prototypes, and design proposals that align with product and platform vision.

• Shape technical direction through architecture reviews, RFCs, design discussions, and collaborative hands-on efforts.

• Outline and implement the product/platform architecture roadmap alongside senior developers, architects, and tech leads.

• Achieve a balance between delivery speed, quality, maintainability, and the long-term health of the platform.

• Decompose large initiatives into parallelizable tasks that yield incremental business value.

• Advocate for proposals from design through to production implementation.

• Enhance the core product build, CI/CD pipelines, and software development life cycle (SDLC).

• Diagnose production issues and promote reliability, observability, monitoring, and incident response.

• Maintain and generate technical documentation.

• Facilitate design discussions across multiple teams.

• Represent the team in technical discussions with various stakeholders, including technical, operations, product, security, domain, and external parties.

• Serve as a trusted technical leader through collaboration, influence, and shared ownership.

• Guide developers through design reviews, agentic-AI sessions, and constructive feedback.

• Disseminate knowledge of technologies and industry best practices.

• Assess emerging technologies, frameworks, and cloud capabilities.

• Incorporate AI-assisted development tools into daily workflows.

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, security, and alignment with architectural standards.

• Identify and spearhead opportunities for agentic automation and rollouts of AI-assisted workflows.

• Establish safe and effective practices and guardrails for AI tools.

• Define and enhance back-end service architecture to ensure scalability, security, and reliability.

• Collaborate with QA, Security, and Product teams to guarantee robust and well-tested services.

• Mentor back-end engineers to elevate code quality and system design standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of professional software development experience with demonstrated influence beyond a single team.

• Extensive expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed back-end systems, and cloud-native architecture at scale, preferably on AWS.

• Experience in designing and managing SaaS or multi-tenant platforms.

• Proven ownership of the architecture for scalable back-end services.

• Strong foundation in software principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and SOLID principles.

• Familiarity with agentic-AI software development practices and responsible utilization of AI-assisted development tools.

• Experience in designing and consuming HTTP APIs, including REST, GraphQL, or similar methodologies.

• Background in mentoring developers and influencing architectural decisions across teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong drive to enhance processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality.

• Preferred: Experience with cloud providers beyond AWS, such as Azure or Google Cloud.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Preferred: Contributions to open-source projects or a robust GitHub portfolio.
