Senior Software Developer, API Platform, Ecosystem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and maintain MaintainX’s public-facing REST APIs.

• Establish API standards and patterns such as authentication/authorization, rate limiting, versioning, filtering, pagination, idempotency, error semantics, and backward compatibility.

• Create robust batch and bulk API operations for high-volume synchronization and enterprise migrations.

• Separate the REST API layer from monolithic dependencies and implement contract testing to ensure stability for both GraphQL and REST.

• Develop scaffolding, templates, and shared libraries to facilitate connector and integration development.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines, automate releases, and implement quality gates for integrations and ecosystem services.

• Generate developer documentation and reference implementations, including SDKs.

• Contribute to the infrastructure and workflows for publishing, versioning, and supporting integrations in marketplaces.

• Enable automation-driven onboarding, connection creation, credential management, and environmental configuration.

• Establish reusable integration foundations for enterprise systems like SAP, Oracle EBS/NetSuite, and Microsoft Dynamics.

• Ensure that integrations comply with enterprise standards for security, auditability, performance, and operability.

• Take ownership of production services end-to-end, which includes monitoring, on-call duties, incident response, root-cause analysis, and system hardening.

• Propel performance tuning and reliability improvements through the use of SLIs/SLOs, logs, traces, and metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional software engineering experience in building backend systems, APIs, or platform products.

• Extensive experience in service-oriented backend development.

• Proficient in TypeScript, Go, or C#, with a willingness to learn additional programming languages.

• Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.

• A solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: reliability, scalability, consistency, and failure modes.

• Experience in deploying production-grade APIs with an emphasis on developer experience and platform usability.

• A strong testing mindset that encompasses unit, integration, end-to-end, and contract testing.

• Practical experience with CI/CD processes.

• Experience collaborating across functions with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams.

• Nice to have: familiarity with API platforms, SDKs, iPaaS/connectors, marketplaces, webhooks/events, and ETL/sync patterns.

• Nice to have: knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, API keys, token rotation, and least privilege principles.

• Nice to have: experience with SAP S/4HANA or ECC 6, SAP BTP, Oracle EBS/NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.

• Nice to have: experience in developing self-service admin/debug tools.

• Nice to have: experience with Workato, Tray, or Zapier from a product/platform engineering perspective.
