Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Hardware, Infrastructure, Virtualization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop, test, and distribute modifications to software, services, and tools that support hardware platforms.

• Design and implement infrastructure for observability to proactively identify and resolve issues before they affect customers.

• Cultivate subject matter expertise in the components used by the team.

• Provide mentorship to team members.

• Identify and establish best practices for automation in products and processes.

• Work collaboratively with support, operations, and engineering teams to diagnose and troubleshoot intricate problems.

• Engage in on-call rotations and oversee the restoration and repair of service-related issues.

• Concentrate on Linux kernels, operating systems, KVM/QEMU virtualization, guest images, and both bare-metal and VM infrastructure platforms.

• Collaborate closely with HIVE hardware teams to ensure the successful implementation of new hardware programs in data centers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Proficient understanding of Linux internals, system administration, and the underlying hardware.

• Extensive experience with the Linux kernel, operating systems, KVM/QEMU, and nested virtualization.

• Expert-level proficiency in designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure on a large scale.

• Significant experience in an engineering position involving large-scale distributed systems.

• Familiarity with tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, Kubernetes, Chef, or Puppet for managing infrastructure at scale.
