Senior Shopify Developer – Contract Role

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and tailor Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts, including Online Store 2.0 themes, Liquid templates, sections, blocks, metafields/metaobjects, and checkout extensibility.

• Create headless storefronts utilizing the Storefront API with Hydrogen or Next.js on platforms like Oxygen, Vercel, or Netlify, while developing Liquid-based Shopify experiences.

• Integrate Shopify with Sitecore, Contentstack, and Optimizely CMS/DXP platforms.

• Develop Shopify applications, Functions, extensions for checkout and customer account UI, and Flow automations using Admin GraphQL API, webhooks, and Shopify CLI.

• Connect Shopify with ERP, PIM, OMS, CRM, payment, tax, search, and marketing platforms through APIs, middleware, and event-driven patterns.

• Assist in technical discovery, define data models, and aid in estimates, technical specifications, and risk assessments.

• Write clean, well-documented, and tested code; engage in code reviews; and adhere to Core Web Vitals, WCAG, SEO, and security standards.

• Collaborate with QA teams on test plans and UAT, address defects, and support deployments, store migrations, and production releases.

• Work alongside Technology Lead, Project Manager, UX/creative, and client teams to translate business objectives and designs into commerce functionalities.

• Guide junior developers and participate in knowledge sharing and code reviews.

• Utilize AI development tools responsibly to enhance engineering speed and quality.

• Provide technical contributions to commerce proposals, estimates, and solution demonstrations.

• Contribute to internal standards, accelerators, reusable Shopify components, and integration patterns; keep abreast of Shopify, headless commerce, and AI trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of direct Shopify development experience, including Shopify Plus implementations for mid-market or enterprise clients.

• Demonstrated experience integrating Shopify with at least one of Sitecore, Contentstack, or Optimizely in headless or composable architectures.

• Strong knowledge of Liquid, Online Store 2.0 theme architecture, Shopify CLI, and theme/app development workflows.

• Hands-on experience with Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin GraphQL, and REST), webhooks, Shopify Functions, and checkout extensibility.

• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

• Experience with REST/GraphQL API integration, middleware, and serverless/edge functions on platforms like Vercel, Netlify, or Oxygen.

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum methodologies, including estimation and sprint planning.

• Strong understanding of accessibility, SEO, web performance, and security best practices for e-commerce websites.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience with Hydrogen/Remix is highly preferred.

• Practical application of AI-based development tools and knowledge of Shopify's AI capabilities is a plus.

• Certifications from Shopify Partner, Sitecore, Contentstack, Optimizely, or Vercel are advantageous.

• Experience in an agency or consulting environment is a bonus.
