Senior RPG Programmer, Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee the analysis, design, development, and upkeep of essential IBM i applications.

• Collaborate with clients to address application-related challenges, identify business requirements, and implement solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Analyze, design, code, and conduct testing for applications utilizing all versions of RPG and SQL.

• Execute unit, integration, smoke, and other phases of testing.

• Convert system architecture into documentation suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Provide guidance to a small technical team when necessary.

• Conduct code reviews for modifications to databases and logic.

• Assist in transitioning legacy applications to scalable, modern ILE solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive and proven experience on the IBM i (iSeries / AS/400) platform.

• Business knowledge in distribution, manufacturing, finance, or insurance sectors.

• Proficiency in RPG forms, particularly RPGLE, including free-form syntax and embedded SQL.

• Advanced skills in DB2 application programming and database design.

• Strong understanding of modules, service programs, and binding directories.

• Familiarity with structured deployment and version control methodologies.

• Capability to convey technical concepts to both business stakeholders and developers.

• Experience with prominent IBM i ERP systems such as Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, or HFA.

• Knowledge of RDi or other Eclipse-based IDEs.

• Proficiency in Git or SVN within an IBM i environment.

• Experience utilizing impact analysis tools.

• Integration experience with APIs, JSON, XML, and tools like GoAnywhere.
