This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist Cotiviti’s revenue accounting team by applying U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 standards.
• Evaluate customer contracts, amendments, renewals, and unique arrangements to establish revenue recognition treatment.
• Analyze and document intricate accounting conclusions regarding revenue recognition, contract changes, variable consideration, and performance obligations.
• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries related to revenue.
• Conduct account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reconciling issues.
• Validate revenue data within ERP and financial reporting systems.
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Prepare schedules for revenue accounting, relevant documentation, technical accounting memoranda, financial statement elements, and footnotes.
• Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Billing, Customer Operations, Finance, FP&A, and other operational stakeholders.
• Develop, implement, and improve revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Execute and uphold SOX 404 controls and documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audits of financial statements.
• Aid in acquisition integrations, encompassing revenue process evaluations, contract assessments, ERP alignment, and policy application.
• Identify opportunities for process enhancement and automation.
• Stay informed on emerging accounting guidance and evaluate its impact on revenue recognition practices.
• Support management reporting and perform ad hoc analyses concerning revenue trends, forecasts, and operational initiatives.
• Complete special projects and other assigned responsibilities.
• A Bachelor’s degree focused on Accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant (or currently pursuing certification) is advantageous.
• At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on technical revenue accounting within the software sector.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition guidelines.
• Experience in reviewing and interpreting complex customer contracts and commercial arrangements.
• Prior experience in a public company and familiarity with SOX 404 compliance is preferred.
• Knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar financial platforms.
• Experience in supporting financial statement audits and addressing auditor inquiries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a capacity for exercising sound professional judgment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical accounting conclusions.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight month-end and quarter-end deadlines.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Preferred experience in supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integrations.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure workspace.
• High-speed internet access/connectivity and maintenance of office setup is required.
• May require travel of at least 5% of the time based on business needs.
