This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Assist with the UK month-end closing process, which includes journal entries, accruals and prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly flux analysis.
• Manage UK accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, encompassing supplier and agent payments, invoicing, and collections.
• Execute daily finance administration and data processing tasks, such as data entry, bank postings, document filing, and maintaining accounting records.
• Aid in UK statutory and tax compliance efforts, including the preparation of VAT returns and working alongside external advisers.
• Address client inquiries and internal questions through email and phone communication.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit documentation.
• Serve as a liaison for auditors and external advisers.
• Identify and calculate provisions and exceptions for standard bookings.
• Develop, document, and enhance business processes, procedures, checklists, and policies.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned or required.
• Bachelor's degree in business, specializing in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• A professional accounting qualification, or progress towards one (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA), is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience in accounting and the GL close process, including direct involvement in month-end closing activities.
• Proficiency in English, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, is essential.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and UK VAT regulations.
• Solid understanding of financial and operational principles.
• Familiarity with US GAAP is advantageous.
• Previous experience supporting a UK-based business is highly regarded.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel.
• Comfortable balancing hands-on administration and transactional processing with advanced month-end close support.
• Ability to collaborate and maintain frequent communication with various internal departments.
• Flexibility to adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business evolves.
