This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Act as the technical accounting authority for revenue recognition and the main accounting liaison for Sales, Deal Desk, RevOps, Legal, Billing Operations, and Finance.
• Manage the monthly revenue closing process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Take ownership of ASC 606 technical accounting, NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM), deferred revenue accounting, Standalone Selling Price (SSP) methodology, and revenue-related financial reporting.
• Evaluate customer contracts, contract modifications, renewals, expansions, and terminations in accordance with ASC 606.
• Investigate complex accounting issues and draft technical accounting memoranda.
• Create, implement, and uphold Standalone Selling Price (SSP) methodologies.
• Collaborate with external auditors on revenue-related technical accounting issues and audit requests.
• Conduct MRR, ARR, deferred revenue, and revenue trend analysis, probing fluctuations and offering insights to Finance leadership.
• Work alongside Deal Desk, Sales, RevOps, and Legal prior to contract finalization to assess deal structures and the implications for revenue recognition.
• Propose contract structures that support commercial goals while ensuring compliant and scalable revenue recognition.
• Maintain and refine revenue accounting policies, documentation, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with Billing Operations and the Financial Systems Manager to ensure processes are scalable, automated, and well-regulated.
• Identify enhancements to workflows, minimize manual efforts, support NetSuite ARM improvements, and utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Over 5 years of experience in revenue accounting within a SaaS or subscription-based company.
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606.
• Experience in reviewing customer contracts and interpreting implications for revenue recognition.
• Proven experience managing monthly revenue close tasks, including deferred revenue reconciliations and journal entries.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to independently research accounting guidelines and articulate findings clearly.
• Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
• Candidates must possess existing authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
• CPA or experience in public accounting is strongly preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) or equivalent ERP revenue management systems is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with subscription and usage-based revenue models is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience collaborating with Deal Desk, Sales, RevOps, and Legal is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Salesforce, Zone Billing, or similar revenue management platforms is strongly preferred.
