This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +44 more states.
• Support state tax compliance, audits, and notifications.
• Contribute to technology enhancement initiatives to improve efficiency and precision.
• Investigate and implement relevant IRS and state regulations and interpretations.
• Analyze tax implications of moderately complex transactions.
• Prepare and review workpapers, calculations, and forms for both federal and state tax compliance.
• Examine federal and state income tax returns, including consolidated and combined returns.
• Oversee, review, and assess state apportionment and allocation workpapers.
• Evaluate annual tax return extensions and quarterly estimated payment calculations.
• Address notices from federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Analyze FASB 109 (ASC 740) and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) regulations.
• Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions, related financial statement disclosures, and reports for internal stakeholders.
• Maintain regular communication with internal and external clients and auditors.
• Manage tax consulting tasks in response to client requirements.
• May lead specific projects and offer guidance to team members.
• Perform additional assigned responsibilities.
• A minimum of three years of experience in tax accounting and compliance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.
• Familiarity with federal and state tax return filing requirements and methodologies.
• Understanding of state apportionment and sourcing concepts.
• Knowledge of tax accounting and reporting concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Acquaintance with FASB 109 (ASC 740) and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) regulations.
• Understanding of banking, finance, and securities industry operations.
• Proficiency in OneSource Tax Software.
• Familiarity with AI Technology (ChatGPT/Copilot).
• Competency in federal and state tax compliance, state audit management, and tax planning.
• Skills in researching and interpreting federal and state tax regulations.
• Expertise in tax technology, automation, data analytics, and process improvement.
• Proficient in reviewing and interpreting workpapers, tax returns, and financial documents.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and apply intricate IRS and state rules, regulations, and requirements.
• Capability to identify and resolve moderate tax issues.
• Ability to identify, propose, and implement process enhancements.
• Capacity to work efficiently and adaptively in a dynamic environment with interruptions, shifting priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong collaboration skills with other functional areas.
• Effective oral and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
• Occasional travel to Corporate Headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida.
