Senior Relay Settings Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop relay settings ranging from 4.16kV to 500kV, which includes setting relay points, creating logic diagrams, configuration files, and documentation.

• Collaborate with protection engineers to conduct quality reviews of relay setting packages.

• Assist in project planning activities by providing design and construction support.

• Engage directly with clients and team members in remote office environments.

• Tackle complex engineering challenges related to substations.

• Lead and design projects for utility substations and renewable energy initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution, or a BSEE alongside a PE License.

• At least four years of relevant experience in power system protection, relay settings development, logic diagram creation, or comparable fields.

• Proficient in using Aspen OneLiner / Siemens CAPE for coordination and fault studies.

• Experience in preparing high-quality technical documentation for protective relay settings and related analyses.

• Ability to create relay settings for various relays including SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB, and others.

• Comprehensive understanding of transmission line protection schemes and substation protection strategies.

• Experience in interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Strong engineering acumen and interpersonal skills.

• Willingness and capacity to travel overnight to customer sites, in-office, or testing facilities occasionally.

• Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance standards is advantageous.

• Holding an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.

• Experience with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista, or Schneider Electric MiCOM is favorable.
